If this is your first time getting clip-in extensions or maybe you just need a refresher on how to take care of your extensions; no matter the case, we've got you covered!
Here are some general tips for caring for your extensions:
Tip #1: Get the perfect match every time by using your tester weft to colour match your extensions to your hair
Every set of Manali Hair clip-in extensions comes with a tester weft. The tester weft is separately packaged and is meant to be used to match your extension colour to your hair colour, without opening the entire set of hair extensions. If your hair colour does not match the tester weft, we will gladly exchange your product for another colour or offer you a refund. However, if the whole set is unpackaged then we will unfortunately be unable to offer you a refund or exchange.
Tip #2: Brush your hair extensions before and after each use; starting from the ends and working your way up
Brushing your hair before and after using them is an important step when it comes to preserving the integrity of your hair extensions. Brushing allows for less knotting, and less knotting means stronger hair follicles. Brushing also keeps your hair from matting and allows it to continue to look healthy and shiny. Make sure to brush from the ends and work your way up the extensions as this lets you detangle without pulling hair from the root of the clip.
Tip #3: Use the right hair brush
Believe it or not, there is such a thing as the right kind of hair brush when it comes to brushing your hair extensions; you shouldn't be using just any kind of hair brush or comb to detangle your hair. We recommend hairbrushes that have nylon bristles and that are made specifically for hair extensions because this will cause less breakage since they are made specifically for this product.
Tip #4: Use heat protectant before styling your hair
We can't stress this enough: ALWAYS use a heat protectant when styling your natural hair or your hair extensions. Heat protectant forms a thin, protective layer on the hair which distributes the heat more evenly and gradually thus lessening the sort of 'shock' experienced. This process results in less damage, and therefore shinier, healthier looking locks.
Tip #5: Store your hair correctly
As any other step, how you store your hair when it is not being used is an equally important step in caring for your extensions. I used to store my clip-in extensions in a shoe box (before I knew there was a right and wrong way to doing it) and let me tell you that was not it. Doing so caused my extensions to constantly be in a tangled ball when I would go to use them next. No matter how much I brushed them before putting them in there I would spend at least 30 minutes brushing them out to get them ready for installation again. For the best results, your hair should be stored in a material that is healthiest for the strands, i.e. satin or silk. This is why we package every order of our extensions with our Manali Hair satin travel bags for storage. They're made of satin (duh) and are easy to store into just about any space. They are also super convenient when it comes to travelling, because you can just place them into your suitcase or carry-on.
